Frequently Asked Questions

Can I walk on the carpet?

Yes! However, anything on the bottoms of your feet may transfer to the damp carpet. We recommend staying off of the carpet for as long as possible. If you need to walk on it, we recommend wearing white socks.

When can I move the furniture?

When the carpet feels dry it is safe to put the items back into place. Tabs and blocks placed under the furniture at the time of the cleaning should be left in place for 24 to 48 hours after cleaning.

How often should I clean my carpets?

Carpet manufacturers recommend cleaning your carpet every 18 to 24 months. However, this does not fit everyone’s situation, your needs may vary depending on usage and location in your home or office. You want to schedule your cleaning when the carpet is starting to appear dull; waiting until the carpet is too soiled may cause damage to the fibers. The trained Maurer’s team can create a cleaning schedule for you to help maintain the life of your carpet and keep it looking great.

How long is the drying time?

Most carpets dry in six to ten hours, depending on drying conditions. Air movement will speed up the drying time – we recommend using fans. The best drying temperature is 68-72 degrees.

Should I wait until summer to clean my carpets?

No, actually the winter is a good time for carpet cleaning. The furnace will help dry the carpet and cleaning will add needed humidity to the air.

Will my carpets get dirtier more quickly after cleaning?

No, our method is a hot water extraction leaving no residue after cleanings. If you use a method that applies a lot of soap, the carpet may re-soil quickly because the soap residue attracts the dust and dirt from the air. Our method does not do this.
